McBeath was born in Cuba in 1932, but was raised in Manhattan and then in 1975 was transplanted to Hankins, New York located in the Catskill Mountains in Sullivan County. She did not start to paint until age fifty, busily raising four children. Started in oils as well as pastels and teaching herself, she began exhibiting her work on pastel faces in the Government Building in Monticello, New York entitled “Mystical Drawings”.
After reading about watercolors and how difficult a medium it was, McBeath decided to study watercolor painting with Jack Yelle of Roscoe, NY until she retired to Florida. She has continued her studies at the Pasco Fine Arts Center in New Port Richey, where she was awarded the People’s Choice First Prize and Charlott McManus Inspiration Award in 2016.
Ellenville Regional Hospital is located on Route 209 in Ellenville. For more information about Ellenville Regional Hospital, please contact (845) 647-6400.
